And that's why in Italy is mandatory to have an anti abandonment system in the car seat. An anti-abandonment device detects the presence of a child in a car seat using weight or seatbelt sensors. If the driver leaves the car without the child, the system triggers an audible or visual alarm on the smartphone or in the car. If no one responds, it sends emergency calls with the child's GPS location to other contacts.

For those that don't know this is actually a common occurrence. There are studies on it and NOBODY is immune to this potential brain glitch. It has nothing to do with love and everything to do with how brains function regarding habit and autopilot. It's a wiring glitch and it's why many cars now come with sensors for this. I'm seeing awful people in the comments wishing harm on other humans over this and it's wild what self righteousness and a lack of education will do to some people. Literally threatening people who say it's a tragic accident just because they can't be bothered to Google it. It's called Forgotten Baby Syndrome and a glitch in ones prospective memory is what causes it. The risk increases with stress, lack of sleep, illness, and yes age. Look it up because if this horrifies you then take steps to make sure you never suffer that glitch. Many people put a stuffed animal on top of their purse or laptop in the front seat to remind them there's a baby in the car. It's people thinking that this CANNOT happen to them that keeps it happening. So if you have a baby you care for take precautions and look it up. Don't be arrogant and make the same mistake. Also don't threaten people or wish harm on them for showing compassion. That doesn't make you a good person. It makes you the problem.

🥺 In Sweden we have this rule that if the child does not come to preschool and the parents have not notified the absence, the preschool must contact the parents to make sure everything is okay.

It might be wild to you, but somebody who is not used to dropping a baby off and has a normal routine, it is not uncommon. One time I have my grandson with me and my daughter was about 11 and I almost left him in the car. If she hadn’t been with me, and she said mama get the baby, I might have done that. It’s so scary.

Heartbreaking. If this wasn’t her daily routine to take the baby to the daycare, I can totally see how she may have forgotten. Especially if the baby was asleep. There’s times when I don’t have my kids with me and I totally panic when I get off somewhere thinking I left them in the car. I just forget they’re aren’t with me cause I’m so use to them being with me. Sad situation. I can’t imagine the guilt she feels. Prayers for the entire family. May the baby rest in peace.

Why in the world would anyone believe she did it on purpose? Really? That mom will be forever haunted by what she accidentally did. Maybe she should, but no—you don’t do that sh!t on purpose. I’ve got three kiddos and I remember my ex husband thought we got our daughter and he thought I did. She was left in the car for about ten minutes before I started to say where TF is (my daughter). But that’s when I expected to see her. Another time, I forgot to take my son to daycare. Went straight to work on autopilot —parked the car, got out and I —BY LUCK—checked the backseat…totally forgot to drop off my kid at the day care first (the day care is on the way to the job). My son was sleep in the back. That’s how it happens—not checking the backseat and going about your day at work. They had some technology that alerts you when someone is in the back. I think they should make cars with alerts that doesn’t turn off if they detect a passenger. And if they do, the windows row down if it’s over a certain temperature. Problem solved.

Tragic...I can only imagine how terrified Stacey felt when she realized little Scotty was left in the hot car..I believe Stacie forgot because dropping off Scotty was probably not a part of her daily routine...it doesn't make it right but pressing charges won't bring back Scotty...her grandmother is now living in her own hell of deep regret...
