@sacramentourbanmedia916: New details are emerging in the Karmelo Anthony case as his attorneys seek to overturn his murder conviction and obtain a new trial. Anthony, 19, was convicted in June in the 2025 death of Austin Metcalf following a confrontation at a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas. Jurors rejected Anthony’s self-defense argument, and he was sentenced to 35 years in prison. During an August 20 hearing, attorneys discussed information about both teenagers that had not been presented to the jury. Court records referenced at the hearing showed that Metcalf and his twin brother had previously faced juvenile consequences after racist and antisemitic graffiti was spray-painted. Records also included allegations that Metcalf had used racial slurs, bullied another student and had been involved in previous disciplinary incidents involving aggressive behavior. Prosecutors also presented previously undisclosed material involving Anthony, including messages allegedly discussing weapons, fighting and violence. One message reportedly included a photo of a knife, while prosecutors said Anthony’s former girlfriend had also expressed concerns about him to a school administrator on the day of the fatal confrontation. Anthony’s new legal team argues that issues surrounding his original trial and the handling of evidence prevented him from receiving a fair proceeding. The developments come after the original judge was removed from further proceedings following concerns about comments he made after the trial. Anthony’s conviction and 35-year sentence remain in effect while a new judge considers his request for a new trial.#fyp #viral
