A draft for necessary legal amendments is being prepared to take forward through the parliamentary process. According to Gurung, four additional people have been arrested for investigation based on the complaint filed by Garima’s family. The Home Minister urged people not to politicize the sensitive case or conduct a “media trial” based on unverified information. He said citizens should question the government and demand accountability, but the investigation should also be allowed to continue without interference. Gurung said the immediate priority is justice for Garima. Evidence must be protected, the investigation must be fair and scientific, the guilty must not escape and innocent people must not be punished.
