drewnicorn :
the red door one was so forgettable. recently rewatched the first one and... hot take - not that scary, just has loud sound effects and score.

I really liked this, dare I say it’s the best in the franchise (even if it had my favourite Spectral Sightings duo absent bar a tiny archive footage cameo). I thought the very on the nose allegory for grief and not wanting to become your worst nightmare was well done. Maybe the character of Cyrus and his whole arc was quite rushed but I appreciated what his story said.

My favorite horror is when there's a monster, but the real monster is something metaphorical, but the real real monster is the monster.
