You go to church every week, but your life has not changed. Does God really approve of that? Have you ever seriously asked yourself: I have prayed, read the Bible, and attended church for so many years, but has my life truly changed? If not, then we need to honestly face three questions. First, why do you go to church? Is it because you hunger for God and want to know Him more deeply and understand His Word? Or is it simply to fulfil a duty or to make other people think you are spiritual? Because God does not only look at how many times you have been to church. He cares even more about your heart. Second, are you only hearing God’s Word, or are you actually obeying it? James 1:22 KJV says: “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” If you listen to sermons every week, but when you return to everyday life, you still allow your temper, lies, jealousy and sin to control you, that is not spiritual growth. It simply means you know more truths. Third, what are you truly seeking in church? If we only like hearing: “God loves you. God wants to bless you.” but we are unwilling to hear about repentance, turning away from sin, obeying God, and doing His will, then what we may really be seeking is comfort, not a transformed life. Jesus Himself said: “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7:21 KJV So the real question we should take seriously is not whether someone goes to church, but this: After hearing God’s Word, has their life begun to change? Ask yourself today: Am I truly willing to do God’s will? If this message has reminded you, write: “Lord, I am willing to change.” If you long to know God’s Word more seriously, learn repentance and obedience, and prepare for the return of the Lord, you are welcome to join our free online Bible study group.
