Radio changed the very idea of distance. For the first time, information could be transmitted through space without any physical connection between the sender and the receiver. Electromagnetic waves, predicted by James Clerk Maxwell and experimentally confirmed by Heinrich Hertz, became a completely new carrier of information. By the end of the 19th century, the first practical systems of wireless communication showed that a signal could actually travel enormous distances without wires. The principle turned out to be incredibly universal. A transmitter encodes information into an electromagnetic signal, an antenna sends it into space, another antenna receives the wave, and a receiver extracts the information from it. And this mechanism never disappeared. Modern radio, television, mobile communication, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and satellite communication are all based on the same fundamental idea: information can travel around us in the form of electromagnetic waves. We live in a space constantly filled with invisible signals. Radio was one of the first ways we learned to create them, control them, and turn them back into information. #Radio #Physics #Technology #edit#distance
