🎭 The Show Must Go On… 🎭 After receiving probably the worst news of my life on Wednesday, I’ve let it soak in. I’ve digested it, talked it through with loved ones, asked questions to the lovely specialist nurse Cris, and properly reflected on the decision I’ve made. And I know I’ve chosen the best option for me right now. As many of you have said — and Cris confirmed — they wouldn’t have offered me the option of surgery if they didn’t believe I was strong enough, healthy enough and in a position where they felt it could be successful. High risk? Yes. Major surgery? Absolutely. But it’s also something they don’t offer lightly. So, for now, the thinking stops. I’ve made my decision and I need to get on with living. 💙 And what better way to do that than… The Show Must Go On! 😂 🎶 Today I’m at my church for our ‘Summer Holiday’ Concert, singing with the choir — and I’ve even got two solos of my own! 😳🫣🤣 🙏 Tomorrow I’m preaching at Glenfield Methodist Church at 10.15am. Everyone is welcome. 🌴 Thursday–Saturday I’m having a little mini break. It was booked a couple of months ago and I’m definitely not cancelling it! 😂 🎶 Sunday 30th August I’m preaching at my home church, Epworth Methodist Church, at 10.30am, for our own Songs of Praise service. It’s not the official TV programme! 😂 But we have 12 of our favourite hymns and everyone is welcome to come along for a sing. 🎂 Monday 31st August is the Bank Holiday… and someone’s birthday! 🫣🎉 And I might even have an open-house tea, coffee & CAKE day! ☕🍰 Watch this space! 😂 🎶 Sunday 6th September at 6pm is our next Encounter at Epworth Methodist Church. A different type of worship with live music, thanksgiving, a message, reflection and more worship. And this really is open to everyone — whatever your faith, whatever your background, or even if you’ve never been to something like this before. If you’ve ever thought “I wonder what that’s like?”, come along and experience it for yourself. After 6th September, I’m deliberately not making any more plans for now. In between all of this, I already have hospital and doctors’ appointments for myself and Judy, but after the 6th I want to use the time to catch up with family and friends, maybe visit a spa, go to the theatre and simply do some of the things I really love. I don’t know exactly when my operation will be. Four weeks takes me to around 16th September. Six weeks takes me to around 30th September. So I’ll wait, see what happens and take each day as it comes. But for now… The diagnosis can wait. The worrying can wait. The operation can wait. Because right now, there is still living to do. There are people to see, places to go, music to sing, sermons to preach, cake to eat and plenty of reasons to smile. 🙏🏻 Thank you for every message, prayer, thought and bit of love you’ve sent my way.
