@thebeaconafrica: One of Owerri’s familiar security roadblocks has ended up in the Federal High Court. Barr. Chinedu Agu says he has instituted an action challenging the blockade around the Owerri Custodial Centre on Owerri-Okigwe Road, arguing that restricting traffic to one side of the road interferes with freedom of movement and creates safety risks for commuters and pedestrians. Agu acknowledges the security concerns around the correctional facility. His argument is that security should be provided differently, including through surveillance, without creating another hazard for the public. The case, which he says came up on 16 July, has been adjourned until October.
