I know Peter’s character was extremely controversial in Spiderman 2 and while I don’t think they expressed it perfectly in the story, I get it. It makes sense that after the events of Spiderman PS4, the guy is understandably incredibly traumatised. His mentor betrayed him, freed hundreds of inmates from The Raft, including the Sinister Six, and caused a gang war in his city that he needed to single-handedly stop, and at the end of it all he’s given an ultimatum that forces him to make “the right decision” and watch his beloved aunt, arguably his tether to the morality of being Spiderman, die in his arms. With the cherry on top being that the very mentor he looked up to was the one that killed her.
