it is generally not a good idea because U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents have broad legal authority to search vehicles, baggage, and persons at international borders and ports of entry without a warrant or probable cause. Claiming they cannot search you at an actual border crossing is legally incorrect and will not stop the search.
