Most golfers try to create power by using their arms too much. But the longest and most consistent players create speed differently. They use the kinematic sequence. It starts from the ground up: Lower body → hips → shoulders → wrists and club. Think of it like cracking a whip. Each part transfers energy to the next, allowing the club to accelerate through impact without feeling forced. That’s also why many great senior golfers can still hit the ball surprisingly far. It’s not just about strength. It’s about transferring energy efficiently. A good way to practice this is to give your arms less time to create speed. By shortening your backswing, you’ll naturally have to use your lower body more to create power. This is a very effective way to learn the correct kinematic sequence. Once you understand how to transfer the energy from your lower body into your arms, you can gradually make your backswing longer again. But maybe you don’t know yet if you’re already using the correct kinematic sequence. A good way to find out is to watch your swing in slow motion and look closely at how each part of your body moves and in what order. And if you don’t have an app to do that yet, search for GolfSkool Analyzer in the App Store or Google Play Store. It’s the app I used to create this video. You can analyze your swing, compare it side by side with Tour Pros, and see exactly what you’re already doing well and where you still have room to improve. If you want a simple drill to improve your kinematic sequence, comment “HELP.” I’ll send you the link to my free newsletter, and you’ll get the drill in the first email.
