@miotravelapp: One of the last living pieces of the Inca road network, and you can walk across it. 📍 Q'eswachaka Bridge, Canas province, Cusco region, Peru Q'eswachaka is the last Inca rope bridge still rebuilt every year in the original technique. Four Quechua communities braid ichu grass ropes by hand, stretch new cables over the Apurímac river, then cut the old bridge loose and let it fall. The annual renewal ritual is UNESCO-listed, and when Covid cancelled the 2020 rebuild, the neglected bridge collapsed within a year, so the communities wove it back. Here are 5 tips: 1. It's about 3.5 to 4 hours from Cusco each way. Go with a day tour or hire a driver, it's not a self-drive trip, and pickups run early (around 4:30am). 2. The rebuild happens around June or July, three build days plus a festival day. The bridge closes for crossing on those days, but watching the build is the best version of this trip. 3. Crossing costs around 20 soles and the money goes straight to the villages. It's single file, and it genuinely sways. 4. Book a tour that includes the Four Lagoons on the way back. The cheapest ones skip them. 5. You'll be at about 3,700m, so give yourself a day or two in Cusco first to acclimatise. Send this video to the mio app and it'll save Q'eswachaka straight onto your travel map. #Qeswachaka #Peru #PeruTravel #Cusco #southamericatravel

Decapod :
I've walked across it before! very cool wildflowers in the area. some of the car bridges nearby felt sketchier than walking across the rope bridge.
