I don't know how to explain it to you .But from my point of view reading gives you an opportunity to use your imagination.You get to pick how your characters look like,how they sound ,how they walk ,what they wear based on the details given in the book.For me reading is just like watching a movie but with this you are in control ,You are actively participating in whatever that is going on in the book
