When I booked a boat trip in Croatia, I asked if there are any Americans on my boat, the woman gave a knowing smile and said, “No, we’ve put them on a boat altogether” 😂

Here to learn 🇨🇦🫶🏼 :
We travel a lot (25 countries in the last 18 months and we leave to France, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, and Hungary tomorrow). We are always so afraid to be mistaken for US citizens. We wear our Canada sweatshirts and, as soon as possible, make sure that everyone knows that we are Canadian. Almost without fail, the response is, "we know. As soon as you start talking, we know you are not from the US. You are not loud and you say please and thank you".

I'm South African (we don't have alligators in South Africa) and I'm sitting near a lake enjoying the peace and a hippo started making noise. Then these Americans so loudly "Is that an alligator?! Must be an alligator!" And they went on and on looking for the alligator. I would've been more forgiving if they thought it was a crocodile coz we have those...but mistaking a hippo for an alligator...really?
