man this one is great. during my 7yrs homeless countless people just critiqued not having the slightest care, i was literally debating with some for hours and days whilst unable to move from malnourishment unsure if id see tomorrow. all to no avail. what surprised me most is how a huge amount explicitly promised they would support in order to just vanish. many others said they would pray because they couldn't help in other ways , while enjoying all the luxuries of life, house car etc. (knowing full well that just 80cents for bread/fruit is often literally lifesaving) one move of action is worth eternally more then millions of words or prayers. shows us who actually have love and who pretend. (James 2:16 and 1john3:17)

Survival is rarely graceful. Anyone who stands on the shore grading your form while you're just fighting for air isn't your person. This is an incredible reminder to find the people who actually reach into the water to pull you out.

yeah after surviving the drowning, I spent time reflecting on how my drowning made them look... then I bailed. took too long.

Just remember this other thing though while you're trying to help someone get to shore some swimming guards get killed because the other person is trying to swim and keep their head above water while being rescued and they both go down

The hardest thing though is finally learning to swim, and then coming across someone drowning and trying to help them, only for them to push you under to stay afloat 😔. I tried so hard to help them to shore. Begged them to kick their legs, take my hand, and trust that we could get to safety. But their fear just had them Seeing me as an enemy and put all their energy into trying to drown me rather than swim to shore together. Sometimes people’s survival is dangerous to you both and it isn’t cruel to call that out in order to save both of you.
