🦎🌊💀 The Lizard That Dives Into The Ocean To Eat 😳🌋 It looks like a creature from prehistoric times… but this dark, spiny reptile is very much alive. The Galápagos marine iguana is the only modern lizard known to forage extensively in the ocean, diving into cold water to feed on marine algae. 🌊 Ocean-Feeding Lizard: Marine iguanas dive underwater to graze on algae growing along rocky surfaces 🌋 Galápagos Specialist: They are endemic to the Galápagos Islands and closely adapted to the volcanic coastline 🖤 Heat Absorption: Dark coloration helps them warm rapidly by basking on sun-heated rocks after cold dives 🦎 Spiky Armor: Their dorsal crest gives them an unmistakably prehistoric appearance 🧂 Salt Glands: Specialized glands remove excess salt absorbed while feeding in seawater 💨 Salt Sneezing: Iguanas expel concentrated salt through their nasal glands, sometimes leaving a white crust around the nostrils ❄️ Cold-Water Challenge: Diving into cool Pacific waters can dramatically lower their body temperature, forcing them to bask afterward It looks like a miniature dinosaur sitting on volcanic rock… but moments earlier, it may have been deep underwater feeding like a marine predator. 💬 Would you ever expect a lizard to dive into the ocean for its food? 🎥 Video Credit: DM for credits/removal to the real owner. 👉 Follow @nature_is_beautiful17 for more brutal hunts, deadly wildlife encounters, predator behavior, and nature’s darkest survival moments. . . . #creatorsearchinsights #capturewildlifemomentsinnature #wildlife #nature #creatorsearchinsight - @nature_is_beautiful17
