You must not have the right Garmin for yourself. Mine I can answer calls with out my phone as long as it’s nearby. Respond to texts with the built in microphone. And it has find my iPhone. Fenix 8 and up have these features and you get awesome battery life (18day) so you don’t have to baby sit your watch battery

I bought the forerunner 970 , does a lot more “smart features” then most. I bought it for these particular useful day to day uses, I can use my siri for text back , set timers and reminders via siri , along side all the great running features I bought this watch for, pricey but worth it to me 🏃✅

I have the Garmin Venu 4, and I can talk through my watch and I also don’t have to have the app open to use Find My.

I can find use find my phone on my garmin without the app being open on the phone. But it sometimes doesn’t connect and says the app needs to reconnect. I have found that happens when I am too far from my phone and it works again once get my phone. I can also take calls on my garmin. But I agree that it doesn’t have the same capabilities as an Apple Watch and is not a good choice for someone who is looking for a smart watch more than a fitness watch.

Two additional factors for me: I can open my car with Apple Watch and not with Garmin. Also I can use tidal or live radio streaming with Apple Watch, which I use while running or walking, without needing any other device with me.

I have the Forerunner 965 and can answer calls on my watch. I can’t reply to text, but I can read them. (On an iPhone.) The find my phone works fine, too. I suppose it depends on the Garmin model.

Ngl, Garmin Cirqa is a game changer. Fenix for gym and runs, and an analog watch for the rest of the day while still getting health insights from the same ecosystem
