I think it's for a reason cuz the 1st season, Steven saw the gems as mystical, godlike beings and they were the top dogs too, but later there's stronger opponents like the diamonds and steven is also one of the crystal gems so he is relative.

She was so mysterious and alway know how to handle things,as if she know what they’re doing the whole time.The show develops and introduce even bigger scheme latter and she’s Js powerless compare to any villains,threats posted later.Saying not disappointed it an understatement but the show was more than what it originally showed us so no one can really be blame.I missed times when Garnet was such a trusted adult and nonchalant,all-capable character🥹

I’m begging yall to understand that the show is from Steven’s perspective and that he thought Garnet was invincible until she lost to Jasper. Garnet didn’t “get nerfed” Steven just started noticing her imperfections.
