During the National Unity Platform Convention in Los Angeles, California, last week, one pastor’s sermon caught both my attention and that of Bobi Wine. Pastor Yosam Manaafa drew from the story of John the Baptist, who preached about the coming Messiah but later found himself imprisoned, isolated and questioning whether Jesus truly was the one he had proclaimed. From his prison cell, John sent messengers to ask Jesus that very question. Jesus did not simply give them an answer. He pointed to what was already happening: the blind were seeing, the deaf were hearing and the lame were walking. The message was simple — change was already taking place, even if it did not yet look like the transformation people were waiting to see. Pastor Manaafa connected that biblical story to the struggles of Bobi Wine and the broader struggle for political change in Uganda. After losing friends, seeing supporters imprisoned and witnessing people endure torture and persecution, he suggested that even those fighting for change can sometimes ask: “Where is God in all this?” His answer was profound: God is still at work. And perhaps, he argued, the change should not only be measured by whether there has already been a dramatic transformation inside State House. Something deeper may already be happening — particularly among Uganda’s young people, many of whom have become increasingly awakened to the affairs of their country and determined to demand a different future. After the sermon, I sat down with Pastor Yosam Manaafa for a deeper conversation about this powerful message, Bobi Wine’s journey, faith, suffering and the possibility that the seeds of change may already be growing, even when the final victory remains out of sight. You really have to listen to Pastor Manaafa explain this.#BrunoUpdate #breakingnews #creatorsearchinsights
