@in.good.hands.collective: If I were only a therapist, I’d tell you to avoid these altogether. But I’m also a mom, so my advice is hold off as long as you can, use it briefly when you do, double their floor time/free movement opportunity afterward, and wait until they’re standing on their own before pulling this out. The therapy goal: maximize free movement whenever possible 💪🏼 The parent goal: maintain sanity 😵💫 Just do your best 🤷🏼♀️ #babydevelopment #newparents #firsttimemom #babytoys #momtips
by the time they're standing on their own they dont want to be contained

So at 4.5 months is it better to have them on their back & tummy? We are working on his head (being a little flat) so side laying, playgym on back & tummy time?

Can you define “excessive” time? I don’t have a frame of reference for what that means 🤣😭

What do you recommend for a baby that flings himself backwards ALL the time! He always wants to be in a “standing” position. He does not spend any time in containers. He does lots of floor time and can roll both ways. He can push up on his hands very well on his tummy. He’s getting mad in tummy time that he can’t crawl. But if he is being held he hates being on his back or in a sitting position 😵💫

i get a lot of insight from your videos! i got a cloud foam baby mat and use it like a huge area rug for our living room so i can comfortably be on floor with her and my 4 month old can have more room to explore ( she scoots on her back) she gets tons of floor/ belly time and she just started rolling back to tummy recently! the huge floor mat is a game changer for both her and i!

It is the same for a baby that is always held upright on chest? My baby is always having CMPA and GORD pains and the other way to bring him relief is to hold him upright on my chest, I do this majority of the day and overnight. I feel like I’m restricting his movement constantly. He can roll on tummy but that’s pretty much it

Can you explain more on standing independently? My baby can stand and is very strong. Just doesn’t have a sense of complete balance yet. Biggest thing I do is help with balance when I’m holding him. Still ok to use an activity center for a few minutes?

I never found a reason for an activity center and putting her in her playpen taught her independent play.
