@theportfoliocareercoach: Nobody warned me that the most useful habits would look rude from the outside. Weird habits I stole from women in their late 30s and it actually worked. (I started when I was 32) 1️⃣ They never announced a goal until it was already in motion. I stopped sharing plans early and started finishing more of them. 2️⃣ They always asked "what is the budget?" before pitching anything. In salary conversations and negotiations, get their number before you give yours. 3️⃣ They left events early without a long explanation. "I have to head out" is a complete sentence. 4️⃣ They kept their salary to themselves until they had a number from the other side. That habit alone is worth thousands per negotiation. 5️⃣ They did not reply to messages right when they arrived. Your response time trains people how to treat your time. 6️⃣ They had one savings account nobody else knew about. Not shared, not for a joint goal. Just theirs. 7️⃣ They did not explain career decisions to people who had no stake in them. A pivot is not a press release. 8️⃣ They blocked time in their calendar for nothing. No tasks, no calls. I thought it was indulgent until I tried it. 9️⃣ They asked for more than felt comfortable in every negotiation. They had learned that the first offer is never the real ceiling. 🔟 They kept a running document of every win and result at work. When review season came, they were never scrambling for evidence.
