@minjeong.mp3: Karina and Winter had been together for almost two years. To everyone else, they looked perfect. Karina was affectionate, thoughtful, and always seemed to know how to make Winter smile. She would bring her favorite drink after work, fix her hair when it got messy, and casually reach for her hand whenever they walked together. But lately, something had changed. At least, that was what Winter thought. Karina started coming home later. She spent more time on her phone. Sometimes, she would read Winter’s messages but take hours to reply. Sometimes, Karina would cancel their plans because something suddenly came up. And every time it happened, Winter told herself the same thing. She’s just busy. Don’t overthink it. She still loves you. But the thoughts never really stopped. One night, Winter sat on the edge of their bed, staring at her phone. Karina had been out with friends. 12:47 AM. Still no message. Winter typed: Are you coming home soon? She stared at it for a few seconds before deleting it. She didn’t want to seem clingy. She didn’t want Karina to think she was demanding too much. So instead, she simply put her phone down and whispered to herself. “Maybe she’s just tired of me.” The thought immediately hurt. Winter shook her head. “No. She wouldn’t.” But deep down, she wasn’t sure anymore. ⸻ When Karina finally came home, Winter pretended to be asleep. Karina quietly changed clothes before getting into bed. She looked at Winter for a moment. “Baby?” No response. Karina smiled softly and pulled the blanket over her. “Good night, my love.” Winter heard her. She wanted to turn around. She wanted to ask: Do you still love me? Did I do something wrong? Are you getting tired of us? But none of those words came out. Instead, Winter closed her eyes tighter. “Good night,” she whispered. Karina didn’t hear it. And that was how it always happened. Winter felt too much. Karina noticed too little. ⸻ Days passed. Winter became quieter. She stopped asking Karina to spend time with her. Stopped complaining when Karina canceled plans. Stopped asking where she was going. Instead, she’d simply say: “It’s okay.” And Karina believed her. That’s what hurt the most. One afternoon, Karina came home and found Winter sitting on the couch. “Baby, why are you so quiet lately?” Winter looked up. “I’m okay.” “You sure?” Winter smiled. “Yeah.” Karina nodded. “Okay.” Winter watched her walk away. Her heart sank. You didn’t even ask again. She wanted Karina to notice. She wanted her to look at her and realize that the smile wasn’t real. But Karina wasn’t good at reading people. Especially Winter. Karina thought giving Winter space was the right thing to do. Winter thought Karina giving her space meant Karina didn’t care. They were both trying. They just didn’t know how to reach each other. ⸻ One night, they finally argued. It started over something small. Karina had forgotten another date they planned. “Sorry, baby. I completely forgot.” Winter nodded. “It’s fine.” Karina sighed. “You’re doing that again.” “Doing what?” “You’re saying it’s fine when it’s obviously not.” Winter looked away. “Then what do you want me to say?” “I don’t know. Tell me what’s wrong.” “I’m not angry.” “Winter.” “I’m not!” Her voice cracked. Silence filled the room. Karina stared at her. Winter looked down, trying desperately not to cry. “You know what?” Winter whispered. “Maybe I’m just tired.” “Tired of what?” Winter laughed softly, but there was no happiness in it. “Tired of wondering.” “Wondering what?” Winter finally looked at her. “If you still love me.” Karina froze. “What?” Winter’s eyes filled with tears. “I keep wondering if you still love me.” “Why would you think that?” “Because you don’t act like you used to.” Karina stepped closer. “Winter—” “You don’t have to say anything.” “No, I want to understand.” Winter wiped her tears. “You come home late. You cancel plans. You barely reply sometimes. And every time I ask myself if something changed, I tell myself I’m just overthinking.” Continuation in the comment section #wlw #winrinaau #jmj #aespa

She took a shaky breath. “But I can’t stop.” Karina’s expression softened. “Why didn’t you tell me?” Winter looked at her. “Because I was scared.” “Scared of what?” “That if I told you how I felt, you’d realize I’m too much.” Karina’s heart sank. “Baby…” “I didn’t want to become a problem.” Karina immediately reached for her hand. “You were never a problem.” Winter looked down at their hands. “Then why didn’t you notice?” Karina didn’t have an answer. Because the truth was simple. She loved Winter. So much. She just didn’t realize that the person she loved had been quietly hurting beside her. “I thought you were okay,” Karina whispered. “I know.” “And I thought giving you space was helping.” Winter smiled sadly. “I didn’t want space.” Karina’s eyes became teary. “What did you want?” Winter finally said the words she’d been keeping inside for months. “I wanted you to notice.” Karina pulled her into a hug. “I’m sorry.” Winter stayed still for a moment before slowly hugging her back. “I still overthink everything.” “I know.” “I might still need reassurance sometimes.” “I’ll give it to you.” “And if I don’t tell you what’s wrong?” Karina smiled through her tears. “Then I’ll ask.” Winter looked at her. “Really?” “Really.” Karina gently squeezed her hand. “And if I ever make you feel like you have to question whether I love you, tell me.” Winter nodded. “Okay.” Karina smiled. “I love you, Darling.” For once, Winter didn’t wonder if she meant it. She simply believed her.
