THE BRAND NAME DOES NOT CONTROL THE PEST THE ACTIVE INGREDIENT DOES! These are some of the insecticides we use for different pest problems, but each one has its own characteristics and purpose: AMPLIGO contains Chlorantraniliprole and Lambda-cyhalothrin. Chlorantraniliprole is particularly effective against caterpillars and other chewing larvae because it disrupts their muscles and quickly stops them from feeding. Lambda-cyhalothrin provides fast contact action against exposed sucking and chewing pests. LARAFORCE GOLD contains Lambda-cyhalothrin and Imidacloprid. Lambda-cyhalothrin gives rapid knockdown, while Imidacloprid is systemic it enters the treated plant and controls pests feeding on it. It is commonly used against aphids, whiteflies, leafhoppers, flea beetles and certain thrips where listed on the label. CONFIDOR contains Imidacloprid. It is a systemic insecticide mainly used against sap-sucking pests such as aphids, whiteflies and leafhoppers. Its systemic action helps it reach insects feeding on treated plant tissues, but it is not primarily a caterpillar insecticide. TIHAN contains Spirotetramat and Flubendiamide. Spirotetramat moves both upwards and downwards within an actively growing plant, helping it reach hidden sucking pests and protect new growth. Flubendiamide targets caterpillars and other leaf-feeding larvae by stopping their feeding and disrupting their muscle function. IMIFORCE also contains Imidacloprid. It has the same major active ingredient and mode of action as Confidor, although their formulations or concentrations may differ. Now, here is the important lesson: Changing from Confidor to Imiforce is not a true insecticide rotation because both contain Imidacloprid. Laraforce Gold also contains Imidacloprid. Ampligo and Tihan share the same Group 28 chemistry, while Ampligo and Laraforce Gold both contain Lambda-cyhalothrin. This is why farmers must stop rotating brand names and start rotating active ingredients and mode-of-action groups. Repeatedly using the same chemistry can encourage resistance and eventually make the products less effective. These insecticides are not meant to be mixed together in one tank.
