@uraan_stories_official: Muslims Used Desert Wind to Power Mills 1,000 Years Ago. More than a thousand years ago, the people of Sistan lived with extremely powerful seasonal winds. Instead of fighting that wind, they turned it into mechanical power. Around 947 CE, Muslim historian Al-Masudi recorded that windmills in Sistan were being used to grind grain and raise water. The design used wooden sails connected to a vertical shaft. Walls directed the wind toward the sails, causing the entire rotor to spin. That spinning shaft transferred its motion to a heavy millstone below, where grain was crushed into flour. No electricity. No fuel. Just desert wind transformed directly into useful mechanical work. #Sistan #Windmill #MuslimEngineers #AncientTechnology #HistoryTok
