@apnews: A small but growing body of research shows that GLP-1 drugs often used to treat obesity may also work for the hormonal disorder known as PMOS. They're believed to help not only by promoting weight loss but also by improving insulin resistance, hormone balance and ovulation.
Can we please force insurances to cover this for the treatment of PCOS? Mine refuses to

My endocrinologist put me on a glp1 4 years ago for my PCOS. It’s 1000% helped not just that but a few other chronic illnesses. Been on the lowest dose for about 2+ years now and my period is regular/ symptoms are managed

But my insurance rejects every single GLP1 because I don’t have diabetes. Every doctor I’ve spoken to has told me that due to my insulin resistance, a GLP1 will help me ALOT. But I can’t afford it.

I just hope that a referral to a dietitian comes with that prescription. It is so needed to guide these women and coach them on the changes that can help.

ozempic helped my pmos and insulin resistance immensely. It also decreased joint inflammation and chronic joint pain. HOWEVER it was terrible with my hEDS and caused gallstones, bile motility issues, and gastroparesis. If only they could make these glp1 medicines that do everything the same except dont slow digestion

I have it and my insurance refuses to cover it. Was told the lowest dosage out of pocket would be over $900 per month.

GLP1 was the ONLY thing that regulated my cycle, shortened my period, and lessened my suffering. I was able to get insurance to cover it for sleep apnea but it really should be covered for PMOS, endo, and adeno.
