As a recovering yt woman someone once explained to me “black men want to abolish yt supremacy and keep patriarchy. Yt women want to abolish patriarchy and keep yt supremacy.” Meanwhile black women are the only ones at the front of every major social injustice. I think about it a lot still.

Not so fun fact: Zora Neale Hurston’s book “Their Eyes Were Watching God” (which also inspired the book the color purple) was criticized in her life time for being a poor portrayal of black male culture at the time, despite being an accurate portrayal of a black woman’s life as it was heavily based on Hurston’s own life
