What book dish should I cook next? 📚🍽 By popular demand, here is a recipe for Skaa Baywraps from Mistborn by @Brandon Sanderson @Dragonsteel @Tor Publishing Group ! Mistborn was the book that got me back into reading a few years ago, so it holds a very special place in my heart. There wasn’t too much info in the book for this dish, aside from that "several skaa women of various ages worked in the shop's kitchen, preparing baywraps -- rolls of thin, flat bread stuffed with boiled barley and vegetables." So this recipe is a mixture of various sources I found, but most notably the reactormag.com article ‘Cosmere Cuisine’ and a thread posted by user ‘Phaz’ on r/Fantasy Reddit. Check them out if you want more info! This dish includes ingredients by @Campbell’s Soup @sandhurstaustralia @Coles @Woolworths_au Barley Pilaf: In a large pan heat 1tbs of oil, 1 diced onion, and 3 cloves of chopped garlic. Cook until softened. Then, add 1 cup of dried pearl barley and cook, stirring, until the barley gets slightly toasted. Add 2 cups of chicken stock, a teaspoon of paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper to the pan. Bring to a boil. Turn down heat, cover and simmer for 45 minutes. When there’s 15 minutes left, add in a few diced artichoke hearts and stir. Grilled Skaa Veggies: Slice/julienne your chosen veggies, (I used asparagus, eggplant and carrot), toss in olive oil, salt and pepper, then fan-bake on an oven lined tray for 30 minutes on 210°C. I also like to switch the oven to grill for the last few minutes, but be careful as they can burn fast. Toss veggies in a mixture of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, apple cider and dijon mustard. Baywraps: Butter and fry your chosen bread (naan or pita work well), then top with your pilaf and veggies.
