@nick.deutsch8: Forgot the article in your German exam? 😰 Quick: der, die or das … Mädchen? Most people say „die" — wrong. It's DAS Mädchen. And the ending -chen gave it away. That's exactly why you do NOT have to memorise articles. Nobody can learn 10,000 nouns — but very many words carry the answer at the end. These 5 endings tell you the article: 1️⃣ -ung, -heit, -keit, -schaft, -tion → DIE die Wohnung · die Möglichkeit · die Situation ✅ no exception 2️⃣ -chen, -lein → DAS das Brötchen · das Häuschen · das Mädchen ✅ even for people — the ending wins 3️⃣ -e → DIE (almost always) die Frage · die Sprache · die Blume ⚠️ exception: der Name 4️⃣ -er for PEOPLE → DER der Lehrer · der Verkäufer · der Arbeiter ⚠️ only for people! „das Fenster" stays das 5️⃣ Plural → always DIE die Bücher · die Kinder · die Häuser 🔑 Your emergency exit in the exam: forgot the article? Just say the sentence in the plural — then it's always „die". Learning word by word means forgetting again. An ending you don't forget.
