This slow, controlled separation triggers the body's natural healing response to fill the growing gap with new, healthy bone. Finally, during consolidation, the device stays locked in place for roughly 8 to 12 weeks, allowing that new bone to fully harden and mature, before a minor follow-up surgery removes the hardware entirely.
