the meteorite crater in Nördlingen is NOT the circular shape of the town. That is due to the medieval town wall that was a circle. 25 km is much bigger than that town is wide.

It's funny, if they hadn't traded Sansibar for Helgoland, they would've lost Sansibar in WW1 anyhow and would have neither island now. So in hindsight it was a good trade.

there is also a phenomenon called das Brockengespenst, the Brocken ghost. thr sunlight hits you in a way that projects your shadow in a weird way o to the fog which makes it seem as if a kind of ghostly giant stands across from you

The trade of Helgoland wasn't that bad. It was British before that and you didn't want the Brits on the path to Hamburg and other coastal cities
