Salaam akhi, I work in real estate myself. Your situation shouldn’t necessarily prevent you from renting. With the new regulations, large upfront rent payments aren’t really a route around affordability checks anymore. However, if you don’t have the usual tax returns/accounts, depending on the agent’s referencing criteria they may consider alternative evidence such as 3–6 months of bank statements, proof of ongoing income or contracts, savings, an accountant’s reference, or a suitable guarantor. Ultimately every landlord and agency will have their own criteria, so I’d definitely speak to a few and explain your circumstances properly. May Allah make it easy for you, ameen 🤲🏽
