I think that they don't want rain to beat electricity 🤣🤣

an introvert :
Most lines are bare wires. When wind blows during rain, two wires touch each other or a tree branch touches them, it causes a short-circuit and the safety system trips power off automatically to prevent fire.

When it rains, when they is winds, poles break and trees fall on the lines. That is the simple one reason why it goes off

Here is a more technical answer..
✍️Sometimes poles/wires/conductors break during thunderstorms and heavy rains, causing short circuits, then system switches off power-for protection. This then has to be sorted after the rain then power is switched back.
✍️The lightening and thunderstorms ⛈️highly charge the transmission lines.(corona discharge)..the safety/protection systems switch out.
Those are the basic reasons.
👉It's not true that someone in control centres waits for rain to switch off, most cases the switching is auto-for protection.
👉 I think transmission systems we have need upgrade to solve that problem..surge arrestors and more storm resilient structures. Unfortunately that's very costly and implementation may not be possible soonest.

Sometimes UEDCL switches off an area on purpose when there is heavy rain and flooding, to avoid accidents in flooded areas and Rain usually comes with wind. Branches touch the wires, the wires touch each other, and it trips the line.

in mityana we get power twice a week but those bastards don't get any shame to charge us the same service fee meant for monthly power use. my question is what is the service fee meant to do?

It's because of uninsuleted conductors (wires) in most cases it's intentionally switched off to avoid short circuit, accidents and damage to the electric materials, in some cases it's automatically switched off buy computers when the shaking becomes severe.

physics teachers come over here"Madam, when it rains, water makes electricity leak and short-circuit. They switch it off so that no one gets shocked, no house burns, and no equipment gets destroyed. It’s not to punish us — it’s to keep us alive. That’s how electricity works — you can’t argue with physics!"
