@upnrunningmagx: Did you know the Jamaican dollar was once worth more than the US dollar? 🇯🇲💵 When Jamaica introduced its currency on September 8, 1969, it traded at roughly J$0.77–J$0.83 to US$1—meaning J$1 could buy about US$1.20–US$1.30. It remained stronger than the US dollar through most of the 1970s, trading at approximately J$0.91 to US$1 after 1973. However, oil shocks, rising inflation, dual exchange rates and successive devaluations during the late 1970s and 1980s eventually reversed the relationship. Today, it takes approximately J$155–J$160 to purchase just US$1.
