I've always thought BTS and K-pop industry desperatly need a sociologist or antropologist specialist in gender studies... I was dissapointed but I understand their context, culture and where are they coming from. I hope there's a learned lesson in this experience.

Their self-love, anti-violence and humanitarian messaging has been a huge part of their music and public image for years. But when those same values become inconvenient, suddenly it’s “they didn’t know,” “who cares,” “it’s just music,” or “it’s not that deep.” You can’t use their values as evidence of why they’re exceptional, downplay those same values when their actions don’t align with them, and then act like we’re crazy for holding them to the standards they set for themselves.

Would they go to the concert of someone saying rac1st stuff against Asians, because “it’s just a concert, it’s not that deep”? No, they wouldn’t. But they can platform an abus3r and tell him “it’s an honor meeting you”. In that case it’s just a concert, it’s just music! Now, one could think that it’s because rac1sm against Asians impacts them directly, while misogyny doesn’t, and therefore their political and social motives are self serving.
