@historicengland: This photograph of Victorian London shows the 16th-century Old Dick Whittington public house at 24 Cloth Fair. 🤩 It first became a beerhouse in 1848, although it was later claimed to be the oldest licensed premises in London. The Corporation of London acquired this pub in 1916 and subsequently demolished it. Augustin Rischgitz photographed this image for London Stereoscopic Company Limited in the 1890s. #London #History #Victorian
