@dweetle: What if your hands could speak for you? 🤖🧤 University of Washington students Thomas Pryor and Navid Azodi created SignAloud, a pair of gloves designed to translate American Sign Language into spoken words. Sensors inside the gloves track hand position and movement, then wirelessly send that information to a computer. The system analyzes the gestures and matches them to corresponding words or phrases, which can then be spoken aloud. (MIT News) The project went on to win the 2016 Lemelson-MIT Student Prize, showing how relatively simple wearable technology can be designed around a much bigger goal: making communication more accessible.
