People are misunderstanding this. It is merely a digital map of a fly’s brain, not a live fly receiving data or a mind-uploading experiment. While the structural data was originally mapped from a fruit fly, the current work is purely a software simulation. Modeling these neural pathways helps researchers understand how brains process information, which could lead to major breakthroughs in treating neurological disorders and brain injuries in the future. Its not a neuralink like experiment on live flies y'all.

Its not exactly like a fly, as it doesn’t have the ability to make new memories. The brain was scanned but its not able to change, just react. It simulates neuron relationships without simulating neural or brain development.

Scientist did this with a worm and a fly brain so most likely he probably was able to get the flat brain data. This is not to do it yourself project. It’s very complicated and even working with the software that he is still isn’t anything simple just wanted to explain that unless he happens to work at a lab has access to a lab where he could do this but more than likely he got access to the data from some actual lab that did this.
