This intense energy heats up a mixture of liquid molten salt running inside the receiver to temperatures over 550°C.The Thermal Battery: The heated salt acts like a massive thermal battery. When electricity is needed, the hot salt converts water into high-pressure steam, which turns a traditional turbine to generate electricity.Why It Can Run At NightBecause the molten salt stores heat so effectively, the Redstone CSP plant can continue to boil water and generate full-scale electricity for up to 12 hours after the sun goes down. This allows the plant to provide clean, non-intermittent power to up to 200,000 South African homes, especially during peak night hours.
