Same here. I’ve lost 10 stone over 5 years (surgery mainly) which is life changing but now the battle is to maintain.

I’m in exactly the same position. 9 stone down. Need to come off but am TERRIFIED of putting it back on. I do eat super clean now but if the food noise comes back with a vengeance, I’m scared I won’t be able to control it. Maybe it’s just about trusting myself more to remain focused and on track

it's designed as a long term medication to manage obesity, there is no magic trick to keeping the weight off. I've been on it since Dec 24, i came off for 6 weeks and couldnt stop binge eating so I'm back on it. if I knew why I binge eat then I could come off.

I’m in exactly the same situation. List 4 stone over 2 years but I’ve started having gall bladder problems. Off it a month now but worried about weight gain.

I have been eating right and doing all the right things whilst being on 2.5mg but I do find when I’m not on it the cravings do come back and I want to just eat more and I can fight it but I end up feeling ill from not eating .. and it’s so frustrating because I do want to come off it but how is another question

It’s a disease, our bodies are different to those who don’t have it! I need MJ for life, same as my blood pressure medication. I don’t plan to come off it! I just want to be able to have a lower dose to maintain for the rest of my life. X

I think this is a really complex thing, we wouldn’t expect diabetics to stop taking insulin or people with heart disease to stop their tablets etc, but when it’s being paid for out of pocket it’s not sustainable for most to have a maintenance dose. That being said, whilst I’m not at goal I had a year off when my mum passed as my head wasn’t in the right place and I managed to maintain within a 1 stone window. It wasn’t easy but it wasn’t as hard as I expected, I just had to be very proactive (weekly weigh ins, workouts and calorie counting). Good luck with it!

Well done! That’s incredible. Doesn’t it depend on the cause of your obesity? If food noise isn’t a strong component of your obesity then you will be fine. Your lifestyle changes will keep you at maintenance. If you have strong food noise, you may not be able to help yourself with the sugar cravings so you might have to get extra help with that. Either way well done and best of luck with maintenance.

The biggest hurdle for people taking this in my understanding and please feel free to correct me if you think I’m wrong, is that whilst they are going on the journey and increasing the you know the mportion that they take on a monthly basis. Is that when it gets to a certain level and they have lost a certain weight that they want to obviously then start coming down the ladder and hoping that obviously the benefits that the journey provided them doesn’t dissipate and for me my experience is that regardless as to whether it was 2.5 or five or 7.5 provided you haven’t been hungry for the most past during all of those phases then your diet isn’t going to be suffering when you start coming down the other side of the pyramid . My Experience has always been the suppression has been consistent regardless of the amounts. And provided that is the case coming down the other side of the pyramid is a much easier transition. But for my perspective, this journey is like any other Fitness associated industry. You hire a personal trainer and they can be expensive if you have them regularly you have them because they know how to keep you fit and you acknowledge that there are aspects of your life that you cannot control to the best of your ability and you delegate that task to somebody who is able to do it for you, or you go to a Boot Camp and you pay a lot of money per week and they strip the weight off you. The majority of the population want to diet want to be healthy and want to be fit ,they spend money on diets they spend money on gym memberships they spend money on exercise equipment they spend money on Boot Camp but they’re all with a view of acknowledging these costs are ongoing. They’re they’re not an exhaustive list. The membership doesn’t stop when the goal is reached. I would argue the most people would say if you can get me to the way I want to be and you’re telling me it’s going to cost me £2000 for example they would handover their credit card immediately. This journey, ( whilst many see it as an aesthetic means of improvement) fundamentally is to save people lives. It’s to get their visceral fat % to non critical levels. It’s to stop them being unable to work.

Tough. We’re not normal. That’s how we got into that state. You’re on it for life, don’t knock it. It’s done wonders for us. If you stop you’re on the slippery slope back. Accept that it is a good medication that you actually need.

Nobody talks about this 👏🏻 when I was choosing my provider this time I made sure to choose one that had really good support for maintenance and the one I went with has a maintenance course to give you the help no matter what you choose to do - stay on or come off xx

You’ve got this! 🙌 You’re going to smash maintenance. It sounds like you’ve made some many lifestyle and habit changes. I’m 7 months into maintenance. I’m not off the meds yet but I’m down to the lowest dose now and it’s going great. I can’t wait to hear how you get on. Congrats on reaching goal and what an amazing transformation. 🥰
