Source- ellaswholesomelife on TT A fetus is surrounded by a protective layer called the amniotic sac which acts like a physical cushion but also as a barrier to outside infection in the microbe rich female reproductive tract. When the lining of the sac bursts, which is known as your waters breaking, a timer begins as the risk of infection increases the longer that they wait until delivery. When more than 24 hours passes from waters breaking to delivery that is called prolonged rupture of membranes (PROM) and it carries an increased risk of infection. So a fetus’ rogue hand isn’t a Situation to take lightly. #mother #pregnant #labour
