@madmnc: We have been waiting to finalize plans to go on the honeymoon or not until we know if we can but we won’t know for sure until Aug 31 if Sam gets this temp job or not. Given that the chances are unlikely, we need to solidify plans for our honeymoon and would love your thoughts. I know they’ll be many different opinions but we feel a little stuck and would love your thoughts on what option you would choose— first, second, or third as outlined at the end. If you know best places to book cost effective hotels, let me know! 🥹💕 #honeymoon #honeymoonplanning #seattle #seattlewashington #seattlehotels
You live once. Tomorrow isn’t promised. Take the honeymoon 🙏

If it were me, I’d postpone until Sam has solid employment again. Kinda puts a damper on a honeymoon while stressed about money.

Being a widow, we did all those things… saving up, taking care of responsibilities, living with the ‘what if’s’ and so much more. Stage 4 cancer hit and we lost the most important time while we were so busy making a living not making a life. Take the trip.

Look at trusted house sitters! I live in Seattle and use it all the time, it’s so great! I’ve had great people and for me, I have a middle aged easy to care for dog, so it’s important that people dedicate the time to care for him, but there’s still plenty of time to explore! Trusted house sitters is a free exchange, you just pay a yearly membership fee I think it’s around $200

Seattle girl here with a couple tips. If you want to explore Seattle proper—you can use the train from the airport and save on a rental car. You can use Expedia and book a hotel in Lynnwood (I saw sev nice ones around $100/night) - which you can also get to via train. Then if you want to explore or go on a hike or to the mountains you can rent a car for 1-2 days. I hope you visit and enjoy yourselves. ❤️

I'm not gonna give you a definitive answer, but consider this: how long will it take for Sam to get enough PTOs at his new job to go on a 7-day trip? From my experience - might take a while, at some places you can only use your PTOs after a year of employment.

I think shortening it would make you feel better about the situation as a whole! Not going will definitely have you guys feeling regretful and if you go and spend the whole 1850, you’ll probably end up feeling really guilty and stressed. Shortening it gives you a bit of compromise 😁

Go on the honeymoon! I had a very similar experience with my husband! He was laid off unexpectedly a week after our wedding, and we still went on our honeymoon as planned (while on one income w verrry tight cash). Neither of us have any regret and it was really nice to get away!

Look at hostels! Some of them are nice. are you planning on staying in Seattle the whole time? You won’t need a car if that’s a case. Public transit here is really easy to figure out. It’s so beautiful here this time of year. You should definitely go.

Your Honeymoon IS only once and you waited your whole lives for this. This one time you need to throw caution to the wind, go, have a blast and make memories! Another day of life is never promised! Go, enjoy and don’t fret about anything…the two of you can weather any storm…life is short! 🥰

You have longed for this love for so long, you definitely deserve to go and use the money as planned. If you feel like it’s an option, do it 🥰

Personally, I would go with option 3 - you still get the trip, and then hopefully when you're in a position of more financial security, you can always plan a re-do and have a longer more luxurious honeymoon. But just in case it takes longer than you expect to get to that place of financial security (I say this from a place of experience! It took me a year of being unemployed before I got a new job 😭), you hopefully won't have the anxiety hanging over you in case there are emergencies (like the tyres and medicals etc). I hope this helps, and if you do go away I hope you have the most beautiful time 😊
