@steptoeshorse2: The Accidental Last Flight of Victor XM715 ✈️ On 3 May 2009, Handley Page Victor K.2 XM715, better known as “Teasin’ Tina,” was taking part in a high-speed taxi demonstration at Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome. The aircraft was not supposed to take off — the demonstration was intended to be a fast taxi run along the runway. (Victor XM715) As XM715 accelerated, the crew reached the point where the aircraft was supposed to slow down. However, the co-pilot did not respond to the command to reduce the throttles, leaving the pilot to intervene himself. This briefly disrupted his control of the aircraft, and XM715 continued accelerating. (Wikipedia) The Victor then unexpectedly became airborne, climbing to around 30 feet before the pilot brought it back down safely before it reached the end of the runway. The aircraft survived the incident, but the brief flight became significant because XM715 had not been intended to fly. (Victor XM715) It is widely regarded as the last flight of a Handley Page Victor, despite being completely unplanned. XM715 continued to perform taxi demonstrations afterwards, including recreations of the event, but the aircraft is no longer used for these runs. (Victor XM715) A remarkable piece of Cold War aviation history — a bomber that was only meant to taxi ended up taking one final, very unexpected hop into the air. ✈️🇬🇧 #HandleyPageVictor #XM715 #TeasinTina #Bruntingthorpe #Aviation

It wasn’t airworthy needed the certification, it was only approved to taxi, luckily it was just a accident and no one was charged by the ffa

The grand old lady wanted to fly so she did. She deserved that moment of freedom.

My dad flew the Victor, Vulcan and Valiant. This was when Britain was truly great. Leading the way on cutting edge technology. So sad we have declined so far

Was this due to ground effect or mechanical issues?

I'm certain I saw a fast taxi of a Victor at Elvington in the late 90s? Does that sound correct?
