You’re absolutely right and I’ve been in both those situations where there was one president had no second person and when she passed away, no one knew where the dogs were. No one knew what happened to the money and what was amazing was when I went to her house because I was picking up a dog, but the dog was being dropped off right when I was picking up she didn’t have a single dog in her home… And then there was a cat rescue and that director was also the only one in charge and this woman had a mouth on her like she was a four star general, she told you what to do when to do it and how to do it… And when I sound the alarm on it kitten, she thought I was overreacting and I said the hell with us and I bought the kitten straight to her door and she said to me oh well, I’ll give this kitten to a more experience foster yeah three days later that experience foster the kitten died oh, and by the way, she dumped the cat on me and the seven years I’ve had the cat not once. Did she reach out to find out how the cat was doing nor did she pay for any medical yeah I don’t have a good opinion on rescues sorry but I have three animals that have been dumped on me and the rescues never once help with food or Medical or just to check in to see how anything was going nor try to get them adopted now I’m working with the Humane Society great program they give you everything you need and they have matchmaker Concierge Medical and adoptive departments and every time you come in every time you make a phone call you get a survey… You’re literally the only rescue that I have seen on TikTok that you have taken us to adoption events don’t see that anywhere else so thank you. I almost think that rescues or a quarter better than I originally thought.

Reminds me of an acquaintance of mine who put in her will that her dogs be euthanized upon her death because she said they would never be happy with anyone else! 😳

I quit rescue completely after a rescue essentially dumped a litter of kittens on me. I bottle fed them and she dipped.

So true!!! I was animal care manager and worked with some really hard dogs at a rescue. I took over this position from a woman who was the only one handling them. So, when I got the position, I trained about 4 or 5 staff members and they thrived! They learned to love people and everyone had different ways of enrichment. One person cant do it all!

Everyone has their niche. You most definitely have other qualities that other dogs would relate to more than hers, plus maybe the current mix of other dogs most likely also may play into it.

I’ve seen you do this before (let another volunteer take a tough case). Totally makes sense and is so smart to let different people work with different pups!

The worst are rescues that have such outrageous "standards" that they generally won't adopt to most people and create a process that tougher than adopting a human baby.

Well I’d be the best person for Corey and Seymour but I’m in NC. But my ego is very healthy about this 😂 my doggie says no. But to your point I’m glad that happened and it’s working out. 🥰

I, sadly, will NEVER approach a rescue for a dog. I’ll go to the Humane Society and local shelters. These so called rescues don’t really want people to have a dog. Our local rescue refused us a dog because I couldn’t produce vet records on a cat I had 15 years ago. The cat had died, the vet practice folded so I had no way to obtain the records. I hope other rescues aren’t that oddball!
