Yet the lamb’s eyes remain closed and her face stays strangely calm. Behind her head, Korobov places a golden circle, creating a spiritual contrast between the still white lamb and the aggressive wolves. The title deepens the image. “Agnus” is Latin for “lamb,” and the halo-like gold strongly recalls the Christian Agnus Dei, the Lamb of God. But the strangest reversal is simpler. Every wolf is focused on the lamb. The lamb is focused on none of them. The wolves may possess physical power, but Korobov makes the lamb the psychological center of the painting. You can interpret it as you like but for me it looks like the lamb is giving up, the lamb has decided that this is her fate.

lambs acts like this in real life. You can slaughter 5 lambs in a row, in front of each other, none of them will make a sound or try to escape. Even when the knife cuts them, they will be silent.
