1st point is still the case most of the time, even if its a looksmatch, it isn't to the woman, also the difference exists without makeup, but makeup also amplifies it, and also what's considered attractive in women being that much easier to work on and achieve for them, while men just have to be Born this way, so the difference in the perception bias is probably way bigger than that practically

Never understood how studies manage to scientifically rate attractiveness. Sure psl and other ways of generating a score for attractiveness based on facial proportions work, but an objective looksmatch seems hard to prove. Proving both genders overrate women would for example be hard, it could just be that there is an objective bias towards femininity. Hypergamy is easy to observe passively, but because attractiveness just is “perceived beauty” it seems impossible to make a study comparing genders
