I think we fucked ourselves when we allowed "gender is a social construct" as if acting like a woman was what made us a woman. As if "tomboys" were confused by their gender, and not just living their lives outside the stereotyped feminine behaviour. I am not female biologically and a woman because I perform the gendered stereotypes. I am a woman because I am a woman. No performance required.

Expanding societies understanding of gender expression as a giant spectrum would be incredible, but instead we always seem to go right back to reinforcing the binary model, due to and in service of the patriarchy, which is infuriating. I'm also pretty sure the way the convo is currently being fueled & framed is mostly a blatant divide and conquer tactic leading up to an election.
