I am a clergy with Chaplain experience and I’m really annoyed about da questioning her about her documentation. Her documentation is not at all inconsistent with professional ethics and standards for Chaplains, which require a high level of confidentiality. Especially about sensitive legal issues.

It wouldn’t surprise me as a Clinical Psychologist if she wasn’t disturbed by the exercise band in physical rehab. Remember she was in psychosis when this happened.

I think the Chaplain’s reply of “they’re safe in Heaven” was a way to connect with Lindsay without lying to her about the kids (e.g. telling her that her kids are still alive) or being excessively blunt/ combative (e.g. “no, they’re not safe, they’re dead”)

My takeaway was that Limdsay is good with where her children are.. she really doesn't have remorse... I mean she refers to the day as "my tragedy" and she feels she is deserving of freedom.

I am not super religious and didn’t realize how educated board certified Chaplains are. I liked this witness. Her testimony gave us insight into Lindsay’s state of mind when she woke up. Lindsay’s comments about her children being safe tells me she either was still psychotic or at least still believed that what she did at the time was necessary to keep her children safe. I’m glad Lindsay has her as part of her support system.

I also had no idea chaplains were board certified and masters prepared! I actually found her very calming. Chaplains see everyone who wishes the company. Serial killers, murderers, etc.

I would have liked to know what was Lindsay’s reaction to hearing her kids were in heaven, was she shocked? Was she glad? Curious to know if she actually thought they were alive and safe or if she knew they were dead 🤔

Challenging a religious figure on why they didn’t document their conversations with someone shows a fundamental lack of understanding of the responsibilities of a religious leader. You don’t take confession and write down everything that they say. I’m pretty sure that would be against what they are bound and committed to do. Can you imagine a priest in a confessional with a notebook, writing down names and what everybody confessed? And yes, I get this wasn’t an official confession, but pastors and teachers and mentors and chaplains are there to support the person that is asking for their help, and it would be in violation of that assistance to document something like that. They are essentially serving as an earthly representation of God to help connect the person to God and support and encourage their relationship with God. To write any of that down would be a betrayal. This is not a medical professional, whose job it is to document all of this. And it was really a display of ignorance to try and attempt to latch onto that as a way to discredit it actually provided additional credibility for someone in that kind of role. Literally did the exact opposite of what they were trying to do.
