The AtmosFEAR ride at Portland's Oaks Park malfunctioned in June 2024, leaving about 30 riders suspended vertically as emergency crews scrambled to get them down safely. The teens' families sued Oaks Park and ride manufacturer Zamperla, arguing the crisis was made worse by a lack of a safety plan. Jurors voted 10-2 to award each teen $275,000. Oaks Park says it is grateful all riders are safe and that safety remains its "top priority."
