@caspiro.film: I Stacked Firewood Into Walls and Put a Turf Roof on Top I cleared a small patch in a spruce forest and started splitting logs — not for the fire, but for the walls. On a gravel trench and a knee-high fieldstone base I stood timber corner posts, then filled between them with cordwood masonry: hundreds of short split logs laid end-on in lime mortar, log end after log end, with the joints raked back so every end stands proud. The roof went on as boards, membrane and thick slabs of turf, so it grows grass. Inside I left the walls exactly as they are — raw log ends and mortar, no cladding — laid a plank floor, set a small cast-iron stove with its flue through the roof, and put up shelves and a table. Then I built a deck outside, rolled a wooden tub onto it, hooked up a wood-fired heater, filled it bucket by bucket and lit the fire until the steam came up through the spruce branches.#building #timelapse #construction #DIY #Home
