As a med student, ya’ll are crazy. Do ya’ll think fat folks are unaware of the health implications of their weight?? I promise you they are reminded damn near every day and a stranger on the internet is NOT gonna magically change their lives. Ya’ll are miserable and just want to put people down and it shows. People deserve healthcare at any size and it’s a failure of our system that she was passed around like that for an MRI.

People need to read What We Don’t Talk About When We Talk About Fat! Like hellooo being fat doesn’t necessarily mean you have health issues. BMI isn’t an accurate predictor of health. And everyone deserves access to health care!

Yes we do send patients above certain weights to the zoo for imaging. No it’s not to dehumanize them or give them a “wake up call.” It’s simply to accommodate weights that some hospital MRI machines can’t. It’s literally only about making sure they get the care they need. Don’t be ashamed. We don’t care about your weight, we care about taking care of you. The miserable people in these comments need to touch grass

It may be dehumanizing but it’s not dehumanizing on purpose. Those machines are expensive and unless an office expects to use it often for heavier people they won’t invest in one. The zoo has one because they have animals that require that care. Although it sucks but it’s the only option for some offices.
